Ghost of Yōtei is Sucker Punch Productions' 2025 follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima, released by Sony for PS5. It moves the setting forward to 1603 and to Ezo, the northern region that is now Hokkaido. You play as Atsu, a lone mercenary seeking revenge against the Yōtei Six, the gang responsible for her family's death, with the towering Mount Yōtei looming over the land. Yōtei is a standalone story, so you do not need to have played Ghost of Tsushima. It keeps the beautiful, painterly look of the first game and its focus on swordplay, but adds a wider range of weapons for Atsu to switch between in combat. Open-world exploration is a big part of it: wide fields, snowy mountains and forests to wander, with plenty of side stories. Is it a good cafe pick? This is built for one player, and it is still one of the newest big PS5 releases, which makes it an appealing cafe choice if you want to try it on a big screen before buying. A two-hour cafe session will get you through the opening and into the open world.
