GTA 6 release date, price in India, platforms and pre-order bonuses

Grand Theft Auto VI is less than three weeks away. After two delays, Rockstar's next open-world game launches on Thursday, 19 November 2026. There's a lot of noise online, so this explainer sticks to what Rockstar, Take-Two, PlayStation and Xbox have officially confirmed, and it flags anything that hasn't been.

GTA 6 at a glance

Release date, and what time it unlocks in India

Rockstar's newswire confirms the 19 November 2026 date. GTA 6 was first planned for 2025, moved to 26 May 2026, and then, in November 2025, moved again to 19 November. Rockstar said it needed the extra time to finish the game with "the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve" (The Verge).

For Indian players, the PlayStation Store India listing shows the release time as 6:30 PM UTC on 18 November. That works out to midnight IST on 19 November. Rockstar hasn't published a separate unlock time for Xbox in India, so check your console on the night.

Platforms: what about PS4 and PC?

GTA 6 launches only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation's India FAQ states clearly that it "will only be playable on PlayStation 5 consoles" and won't be available for PS4. The PlayStation Store also lists the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced.

PC: no PC version has been announced. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said Rockstar has historically launched on console first, and that the PC "is becoming more and more important" to the company, but he hasn't confirmed a PC version or a date (GameSpot). For comparison, GTA V reached PC about 19 months after it launched on consoles. Any GTA 6 PC date you see online is a guess for now.

Editions and price in India

Pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026, according to Take-Two's press release. There are two editions:

The Indian prices are the same on the PlayStation Store India and the Xbox Store India. Xbox also sells an Ultimate Edition Upgrade for ₹1,500 if you buy Standard first. On the PlayStation Store, the upgrade showed as unavailable when we checked.

What does Ultimate add? According to the Xbox Store listing, it adds an exclusive set of vehicles, weapons, outfits and activities spread through Jason and Lucia's story. That includes a '95 Grotti Cheetah, a retro build for Jason's pickup, a classic car collection side quest and extra in-game shops such as a tattoo parlour, a salon and a custom car garage. Both editions include the full game; Ultimate adds these extras on top.

Physical copies: the boxed version contains a download code, not a disc, Take-Two says. Physical copies go on sale on 12 November so buyers can preload.

Preload: 12 November

Digital pre-orders can start preloading on 12 November 2026, a week before launch, per Take-Two. PlayStation lists a "7-Day Pre-load" with both editions. Make sure you have plenty of free storage. Rockstar hasn't published the download size yet, so we haven't guessed it here.

Pre-order bonuses

• Vintage Vice City Pack: included with every pre-order and every purchase before 20 November 2026. The Verge reports that it includes a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and garage, outfits, hairstyles and a weapon skin, all in a Vice City throwback style.
• One free month of GTA+: for digital pre-orders and purchases. On PlayStation, buy on or before 19 November and claim the month by 31 March 2027 (PlayStation India offer terms). On Xbox, buy before 23:59:59 on 19 November and redeem within 180 days. After the free month, GTA+ renews at the regular monthly price unless you cancel. The Ultimate Edition upgrade on its own doesn't qualify.

The offer terms don't give a time zone for the cut-off, so finish your purchase well before midnight IST on 19 November to be safe.

Story and setting

GTA 6 returns to Vice City, Rockstar's neon version of Miami, in the fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar's official site lists six destinations: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.

The leads are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, introduced in Trailer 2 in May 2025. In the official description, they "have always known the deck is stacked against them." When an easy score goes wrong, they end up "on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America," caught in a criminal conspiracy that runs across Leonida.

Is there GTA 6 Online?

Not at launch. Take-Two describes GTA 6 as "a single-player title" and says it will "continue to support GTA Online after GTA 6 release and beyond" (Game Rant). What it means for gamers in India

• The console is the real cost. At ₹5,999 the game is pricier than most new releases, and it needs a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. For the many players on PS4 or PC, that's a much bigger spend than the game itself.
• Pre-order digitally if you want GTA+. The free month only comes with digital copies.
• Check boxed copies carefully. Since the box holds a download code, you'll still need internet and storage to install it.
• Cafés will be busy. PS5 cafés in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai are likely to fill up on launch weekend. If you plan to play at one, call ahead and book early.
• Unconfirmed for now: a PC release date, GTA 6 Online and the download size. We'll update this post when Rockstar announces them.
