Battlegrounds Mobile India, almost always called BGMI, is KRAFTON's India-specific version of PUBG Mobile. It launched in July 2021 and quickly became one of the biggest mobile games in the country. Up to 100 players drop onto a map, loot weapons and gear, and fight until one squad or player survives. BGMI is a phone game, so it is a slightly unusual entry on Gamehood. It is here because it matters to the scene: BGMI tournaments, scrims and college competitions are everywhere, and many squads use gaming cafes and lounges as a meeting point. A comfortable seat, air-conditioning, a stable network and space to sit together as a four-stack make a real difference in a serious scrim. How it plays The main mode is classic battle royale on maps like Erangel, Miramar and Livik, a smaller map with faster matches. Arcade modes and Team Deathmatch give short, quick games, perfect for warming up. You can play solo, in duos or in four-player squads. Coming from BGMI to a cafe If your squad usually plays BGMI, a cafe PC is a great way to try PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, which offers the same basic formula with more realistic gunplay. For BGMI itself, bring your own phone and charger. Ask the cafe about plugging in and about their Wi-Fi, but keep mobile data as a backup. Tips for better squad games Agree on a landing spot in the lobby, not mid-flight. Keep your sensitivity settings consistent; copying a pro's settings rarely helps. Use the TDM mode for ten minutes to warm up your aim before ranked. And communicate with the compass bearings at the top of the screen instead of saying "over there". Session length A classic match lasts up to about 30 minutes. Livik and arcade modes are much shorter. Squads practising together usually plan two to three hours.
