PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is the game that made battle royale a global phenomenon. Released in 2017 and now developed by PUBG Studios under KRAFTON, it drops up to 100 players on a large map with nothing but their fists, and they scavenge guns, armour and vehicles until one player or squad remains. It went free-to-play in 2022. For a lot of Indian players, PUBG is a familiar name thanks to its mobile version, and BGMI players often want to try the PC version at a cafe. It is more realistic and deliberate than the mobile game: bullet drop matters, recoil is heavy, and a single careless sprint across an open field can end your match. The classic map Erangel is the one most people know, but the rotation includes desert, snow and jungle maps, each changing how fights play out. You can choose first-person or third-person perspective; third-person lets you peek around corners, while first-person is considered more competitive. Best setup? A cafe PC with a good monitor, a reliable mouse and a headset. Sound is crucial: footsteps and vehicle noise tell you where threats are. PS5 is also an option, but most cafe players run PUBG on PC. You will need a Steam account or a KRAFTON account. Advice for beginners: land away from the plane's flight path for a calmer start. Grab a level 2 helmet and vest as a priority. Learn to use cover, and use vehicles to rotate early instead of running when the zone closes. When playing squads, call out positions with compass directions; the game gives you degree markers at the top of the screen for this. Session length: a full PUBG match can last up to 30 minutes or more if you survive. Most groups book two hours to get several solid attempts. PUBG is rated M. It is a perfect match for patient squads, BGMI players who want the full PC experience, and anyone who prefers realistic gunplay over flashy abilities.
