Overwatch 2 is Blizzard Entertainment's free-to-play team shooter, launched in 2022 as the follow-up to the original Overwatch. Two teams of five pick from a colourful cast of heroes, each with unique weapons and abilities, and fight over objectives like control points and escort payloads. Every hero fits one of three roles. Tanks soak damage and create space, damage heroes secure eliminations, and supports heal and buff their team. A standard team runs one tank, two damage and two support. Understanding that structure is the first thing to learn, because Overwatch is won by teamwork far more than by individual aim. Why play it at a cafe? Because it is a great game for mixed-skill groups. A friend who cannot aim well can still be incredibly useful as Mercy or Lúcio, while a sharper player handles Soldier: 76 or Cassidy. Everybody contributes, and the bright, cartoonish style makes it less intense than military shooters. It is rated T. Ask for a PC with a decent monitor and headset. Overwatch 2 also runs on PS5 and Switch, and cross-play lets mixed groups party up. You will need a Battle.net account. Tips for first-timers: Try Quick Play before Competitive, and switch heroes when something is not working; the game expects you to adapt. Stay near your tank; fighting alone usually means dying alone. As a support, heal, but also stay alive, because a dead healer helps no one. The hero gallery and practice range let you test abilities without pressure. Match lengths sit at 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the mode. An hour is enough for a few Quick Play games, and two hours lets a five-stack play several competitive matches with breaks. Overwatch 2 works for friend groups with different skill levels, players who like abilities more than pure gunplay, and anyone who enjoys colourful characters with big personalities. Since it is free, it is also easy to keep playing together at home.
