FIFA 23

EA Vancouver · EA Sports

FIFA 23 is the final football game EA made under the FIFA licence before the series became EA SPORTS FC. Built by EA Vancouver, it introduced HyperMotion2 animation tech, added women's club football and brought cross-play to the series for the first time in head-to-head modes. Why cafes still have it FIFA 23 is the version many players grew up on, and later updates added both the men's and women's World Cup modes, which keep it popular for international friendlies. For a lot of casual players, choosing Brazil versus Argentina in a World Cup knockout is more fun than worrying about this season's transfers. How to enjoy it in a group Two players on one console is the standard. Four players can do two-versus-two, and that is genuinely one of the best social modes in any sports game: every misplaced pass becomes a group argument. If you want structure, use the in-game tournament creator to set up a mini World Cup with your friends each controlling a country. Which station to pick A PS5 or PS4 with a large screen. FIFA 23 also runs on PC, but you will want a controller either way. Check that the controllers are charged before your timer starts if you are booking for four. Two practical tips Power shots, introduced in this game, are strong but slow to wind up. Use them only when you have space; in a crowded box a quick finesse or low driven shot is better. Also, set the camera to Tele Broadcast or Co-op if you are new; the default camera can feel too close when the ball moves fast. Typical time needed Expect about 15 minutes per match. For a pair, one hour is three to four games. For a four-team bracket, two hours is safer. Who should choose FIFA 23 Players who prefer its feel to the newer FC games, groups who want the World Cup mode for a themed match night, and anyone who just wants a familiar football game. It is not the newest, but it remains a very playable and fun option on a cafe night out.
