Palworld is a survival crafting game by Pocketpair, released in early access in January 2024. It became an overnight sensation with a simple but strange pitch: catch cute creatures called Pals, and then put them to work in your base, ride them, fight with them, and occasionally hand them a gun. At its core, Palworld mixes three ideas. First, creature collecting: throw spheres at wild Pals to catch them. Second, survival and crafting: gather resources, build a base, craft tools, weapons and armour, and manage hunger. Third, base automation: Pals work at your base, chopping wood, mining ore, making items and farming, while you explore. You can play solo, but Palworld is better with friends. Co-op lets up to four players play in the same world, and dedicated servers support larger groups. A few friends on neighbouring PCs at a cafe can explore, build and fight bosses together. Setup A PC with a decent GPU is the most common choice. Palworld also runs on PS5 and Xbox. You will need a Steam account on PC. Since it is still in early access, updates arrive regularly, so make sure the game is up to date before you start. Beginner tips Catch lots of different Pals early; each has unique work skills. Build a base near resources like stone and wood. Upgrade your Pal Spheres as soon as you can. Use your Pals' abilities to travel faster. Avoid high-level areas until you are stronger; some Pals are much tougher than others. Time Palworld is a long game. A one-hour session is enough to get started, catch a few Pals and build a basic base. Two to three hours lets a group build up a proper base together.
