Street Fighter 6 is Capcom's 2023 entry in the fighting game series that pretty much created the genre. It is one-on-one fighting at its purest: two characters, a health bar each, and a lot of mind games. What made SF6 special is how welcoming it is to newcomers without dumbing anything down. Three ways to play Fighting Ground is the classic versus mode and the one you will use most at a cafe, either against a friend or the CPU. World Tour is a single-player story mode where you create your own fighter and learn from the cast, more of a home experience. Battle Hub is the online lobby space, best for people with their own accounts. Modern controls are your friend SF6 lets every player choose between Classic controls (six attack buttons and traditional motion inputs) and Modern controls (simpler buttons with an assist key that performs special moves). If you are new, pick Modern. You can pull off real special moves on your first evening and still compete with a friend who has been playing for months. Cafe setup A PS5 or PC station with two controllers. Some fighting game regulars bring their own arcade sticks or hitboxes, which most cafes are fine with as long as they connect by USB. A low-latency monitor helps more than a huge TV for this genre, so if you get the choice, take the monitor. Getting started fast Pick a character with simple tools: Ryu, Ken, Luke and Chun-Li are all straightforward. Learn one reliable poke and one anti-air, and use the Drive Impact sparingly; experienced players can punish it if you spam it. How long to play A best-of-three set takes about five minutes. An hour of winner-stays-on with a group of three or four flies by, and most groups book two hours once they get hooked. Who it is for Anyone who grew up on Street Fighter II, friends who love trash talk, and anyone curious about the fighting game community. It is one of the best one-on-one games to play side by side at a cafe.
