VALORANT is Riot Games' free-to-play tactical shooter, released in 2020. Two teams of five take turns attacking and defending, with attackers trying to plant a device called the Spike. What sets it apart from older tactical shooters is its cast of agents, each with abilities such as smokes, flashes, walls and healing. Why it is huge in cafes VALORANT runs well on mid-range PCs, it is free, and it is built for five friends. That makes it one of the most requested games in Indian gaming cafes. Many local and college tournaments use it too, so cafe sessions often double as team practice. Modes worth trying Unrated and Competitive are the main modes: first team to 13 rounds wins. Swiftplay is a shorter version, great when you are short on time. Spike Rush and Deathmatch are quick warm-ups. Team Deathmatch is fun for loosening up before a ranked game. Best setup A PC with a 144Hz or faster monitor, a headset with a mic, and a comfortable mouse. You will need your own Riot account. Riot's Vanguard anti-cheat runs on the PC, so play at a cafe that keeps VALORANT installed and updated rather than trying to install it yourself. Beginner tips Pick a straightforward agent first: Sage for healing and walls, Brimstone for easy smokes, or Reyna if you want to focus on aim. Keep your crosshair at head height while you walk, so you rarely need to flick. And, like other tactical shooters, stop moving before you shoot; accuracy drops sharply while running. Session length A full Competitive or Unrated match can run 30 to 45 minutes. Swiftplay is closer to 15. If your squad wants two or three ranked games, book about two to three hours. Who should play Groups of up to five, people coming from CS who want abilities on top of gunplay, and anyone joining India's busy VALORANT tournament scene. If you are new, Swiftplay with friends is the gentlest way in.
